JAIL SUPERINTENDENT

The Rockbridge Area Regional Jail Commission is accepting applications for the position of Jail Superintendent. The Regional Jail serves the Cities of Lexington and Buena Vista and the County of Rockbridge and the towns within. The jail is located at 258 Greenhouse Road Lexington, Virginia. The region is centrally located in the historic and scenic Shenandoah Valley. The community is rural/suburban with a high quality of life. Excellent medical, recreation and public schools are abundant in the region.

The Jail typically holds approximately 130 inmates. The Superintendent provides leadership and supervision to approximately 46 sworn officers and 2 civilian personnel. They will also oversee the contractual medical and food services. The Superintendent is a direct report to the Regional Jail Commission, and he/she is responsible for preparing and managing the Jail’s estimated $6.6 million-dollar operating budget.
