The Blue Ridge Regional Jail Authority (BRRJA), based in Lynchburg, VA, is accepting applications for a Jail Administrator.  The BRRJA operates five facilities serving the Counties of Amherst, Appomattox, Bedford, Campbell, Halifax and the City of Lynchburg.  The BRRJA has an average daily population of 1200 inmates and employs approximately 400 staff.  This position involves professional, administrative, and technical skills encompassing responsibilities for the overall operation of the regional jail.  Requires strong management and budgetary experience in corrections or in governmental operation.

Minimum Qualifications:  Must be 21 years of age or older, a citizen of the United States, or legally employable in the USA.  Must have a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Business, Corrections or Criminal Justice.  A Master’s Degree is preferred.   Experience (at the supervisory level) in correctional operations with a public, private or military agency is strongly preferred.  Must possess a valid VA driver’s license.  Must be able to obtain and maintain Jail Officer certification as mandated by the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services. A combination of education and experience equivalent to these requirements may be substituted.
